Partnering for Progress: Mountaineer Chapter Enhances HR Capabilities through Training

Featured image

The Mountaineer Chapter of the Adjutant General’s Corps Regimental Association (AGCRA) at Fort Drum recently convened a highly impactful Human Resources University, led by the Task Force Commandos S1, MAJ Settle. This event brought together AG professionals from every brigade across Fort Drum to strengthen foundational knowledge and practical skills in Casualty Operations (CASOPS)—a critical function that ensures the continuity of personnel readiness in both garrison and combat environments.

The training covered essential areas such as reporting protocols, tracking mechanisms, and replacement operations. Emphasizing the importance of timely and accurate CASOPS procedures, MAJ Settle demonstrated exceptional dedication by hosting the event shortly after the completion of Mountain Peak 25-01, all while preparing his unit for an upcoming JRTC rotation. His commitment to developing the force underscores the professionalism and leadership expected of today’s Army HR practitioners.

As part of the HR University, SSG Sidney Ellis, the S1 NCOIC of the 210th Brigade Support Battalion (BSB), provided attendees with a tour of the unit’s mobile Administration and Logistics Operation Center (ALOC). This mobile capability, built for rapid deployment, plays a pivotal role during large-scale combat operations by sustaining administrative functions in dynamic environments.

The Casualty Assistance Center at Fort Drum also contributed with critical instruction on the proper completion of the DD Form 93 and SGLV. The class emphasized the real-world implications of inaccurate data during casualty notification processes and reinforced the S1’s responsibility in ensuring Soldier record accuracy during the Personnel Records Review (PRR).

In addition, Mr. Mark Martin, Deputy G1 of the 10th Mountain Division, recognized Mr. Dave Huntsman, Chief of Separations, for his outstanding support and instruction. Mr. Huntsman conducted three training sessions on the new IPPS-A electronic DD Form 214, showcasing the system’s full potential. His engaging delivery and seamless interaction with IPPS-A earned him a 10th Mountain Division coin—a testament to his impact and professionalism.

These collective efforts by Fort Drum's HR community reflect the ongoing commitment to excellence in personnel readiness and HR modernization. The Mountaineer Chapter remains proud to support initiatives that foster collaboration, innovation, and professional growth among Army HR professionals.
