Sun City Spotlight: Developing Professionals, Strengthening Readiness, Connecting Communities

Featured image

Across Fort Bliss and the 1st Armored Division, Adjutant General’s Corps professionals are helping Soldiers grow, preparing teams for demanding responsibilities, and building connections that strengthen the Army. The AGCRA Sun City Chapter is proud to highlight that work through four stories demonstrating the reach of the AG profession.

From a new HR academy to casualty operations training, officer talent recruitment, and a community concert, these efforts share a commitment to people. Together, they show how technical expertise and service translate into meaningful contributions to Soldiers, families, and organizational readiness.

Building Confidence Through the Bombards HR Academy

The inaugural Bombards HR Academy, 1st Armored Division Artillery’s premier HR professional development initiative, brought Soldiers together for three days of learning, mentorship, and team building.

The program included two days of comprehensive HR technical instruction alongside physical readiness training and opportunities to build professional relationships. A culminating graduation ceremony recognized the participants’ commitment to strengthening their skills and growing within the profession.

The academy connected technical instruction with the confidence Soldiers need to apply it. Participants sharpened core HR competencies while building camaraderie and preparing to better support commanders, fellow Soldiers, and their organizations.

CW2 Jeremy Lindsey and SSG John Kenney spearheaded the initiative, turning a vision for professional development into an experience for the next generation of Army HR professionals. Their work demonstrates the value of creating deliberate opportunities for Soldiers to learn from one another and take greater ownership of their development.

Congratulations to the inaugural graduates and everyone who helped establish this new investment in the formation.

Preparing to Serve Soldiers and Families When It Matters Most

At Fort Bliss, the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team S1 hosted a two-part casualty operations training series focused on responsibilities that require both technical precision and compassionate service.

The first session, held August 6, 2026, was facilitated by CW2 Candice Perry, Brigade Human Resources Technician, and introduced approximately 25 participants to casualty reporting, personnel accountability, required timelines, and HR responsibilities during a casualty incident.

The second session, held September 17, expanded the discussion to include Mortuary Affairs. Facilitated by MSG Brandy Jackson-Frazer, Brigade Senior Human Resources Sergeant, the session brought approximately 65 participants together for instruction from SFC Dylan Rolen and SSG Sindi Rodriguez.

The progressive approach allowed participants to establish a foundation before examining the coordination and care required following the loss of a Soldier. It reinforced why preparation matters: every report represents a person, and every action can affect a family awaiting accurate information.

The instructors received coins from the Brigade S1 team and Certificates of Achievement from the Bulldog Brigade Commander in recognition of their contributions. Their instruction helped strengthen the knowledge Fort Bliss professionals need to carry out these duties with urgency, dignity, and respect.

Connecting Talent to America’s Tank Division

Personnel readiness also depends on building the right team for future missions.

From September 7–11, 2026, 1st Armored Division G1 professionals joined the division’s commanding general and other senior leaders at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, to engage Command and General Staff College students about opportunities within America’s Tank Division.

Representing the G1 were MAJ Brandon McFadden, Deputy G1; CPT Eli Hollingsworth; and 2LT Mahetzy Guerrero, both of the G1 Strength Team. They supported candidate interviews, the 1AD Command Welcome Brief, and the CGSC Student Social.

Those engagements gave prospective officers direct access to division leaders and an opportunity to explore the formation’s mission, leadership culture, and professional development opportunities.

The team’s work illustrates an essential contribution of the AG profession: connecting talent with opportunity. By helping officers understand where they could serve and contribute, these professionals supported the division’s effort to develop its future leadership.

Bringing the Community Together Through Army Music

On September 17, 2026, the 1st Armored Division Band hosted a Constitution Day concert at Fort Bliss, bringing Soldiers, families, and community members together to commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution.

Led by CW2 Craig Hull, director of the 1st Armored Division Band, the concert included the El Paso Winds and offered a shared opportunity for reflection and celebration.

The performance also highlighted the breadth of the Adjutant General’s Corps. Army musicians contribute through ceremonies, military traditions, morale, and public engagement. Their talents help connect military service with the communities surrounding Army installations.

For the Fort Bliss audience, the concert created a moment to come together through music and recognize the nation’s founding document.

Recognizing the People Behind the Profession

The Sun City Chapter’s spotlight on these efforts gives the wider AGCRA community an opportunity to recognize AG professionals doing meaningful work throughout their formations.

Whether teaching a technical skill, preparing for casualty responsibilities, connecting an officer with a future assignment, or leading a concert, these professionals put their expertise into service for others. Sun City is proud to share their contributions and celebrate the people strengthening the Corps every day.
